Columbus Crew has dismissed reserve team manager Federico Higuain following a two-game ban issued by MLS for making sexist remarks toward a female referee. The incident occurred after his side's 1-0 defeat against Huntsville City in the MLS Next Pro league, where the 41-year-old was sent off after holding the official's hand and stating, 'Don't forget this is a man's game.'
Columbus Crew general manager Issa Tall confirmed Higuain's dismissal, stating the former leader failed to meet the club's standards. Meanwhile, the Professional Soccer Referees Association criticized the initial MLS sanction, accusing the brother of former Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain of deliberate physical abuse and intimidation after he reportedly refused to release the official's hand.
