The FIA has introduced special technical measures for the Baku circuit to help Formula 1 teams manage electrical energy consumption. Baku features a straight exceeding two kilometers, which creates a major risk of rapid battery depletion and excessive clipping under the 2026 power-unit regulations.
Under the updated rules, the FIA granted exemptions from the Power Limited Pending mandate across several technical sectors, including Turns 3 to 12. Teams can also delay full electrical deployment onto the final straight during qualifying, allowing them to preserve energy for later in the lap.
