Ferrari concern in Baku as Oliver Bearman suffers power unit failure in FP2

Oliver Bearman suffered a power unit failure during the second practice session for the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The British driver was forced to park his Haas VF-26 in an escape road along the Baku City Circuit after reporting that his engine broke. The incident raised reliability concerns for power unit supplier Ferrari, even though works drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton completed FP2 without issues.

Haas and team principal Ayao Komatsu are assessing the extent of the damage to Bearman's car to determine if component replacements will trigger grid penalties. Ferrari will monitor the investigation closely, as the demanding Baku street circuit features high ambient temperatures and an extremely long straight that places power units under sustained mechanical load.
