Canucks announce 2026-27 opening night roster

The Vancouver Canucks have finalized their opening night roster for the 2026-27 NHL season. The initial 23-man squad includes 13 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goaltenders, featuring offseason acquisitions Paul Cotter, Brendan Gallagher, Jamie Oleksiak, and Luke Schenn. Kevin Lankinen and Leevi Meriläinen form the starting goaltending tandem.

Injuries have forced several players off the active roster, with forward Filip Chytil sidelined by a shoulder injury and goaltender Thatcher Demko rehabbing from hip surgery. Additionally, Arshdeep Bains and Guillaume Brisebois earned roster spots after strong preseason performances, despite earlier expectations that both would begin the campaign with AHL Abbotsford.
