Everything you need to know about the first month of the Carolina Hurricanes’ season

The defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes are set to begin their 2026-27 NHL campaign. The league is returning to an 84-game regular-season schedule, which pushes the start of the season into late September rather than early or mid-October.

Between September 29 and October 31, the Hurricanes will navigate a demanding opening stretch featuring 15 games against 12 unique opponents. Carolina will play nine of those contests on the road, alongside three sets of back-to-backs and two 2026 postseason rematches.
