Carolina’s Hellebuyck Pursuit Just Got a Lot More Complicated

The Carolina Hurricanes remain actively interested in acquiring goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets via trade, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. Carolina is reportedly exploring potential multi-team trade scenarios involving Alexander Nikishin to facilitate a permanent deal, though no transaction is currently imminent.

A prior trade agreement sending Nikishin to the New York Rangers collapsed over contract demands, where Nikishin sought around $9 million annually over five years. Potential destinations such as the St. Louis Blues and Nashville Predators have also been connected to ongoing discussions.
