The Portland Trail Blazers have appointed Braiden Bell as their new television play-by-play broadcaster, replacing longtime voice Kevin Calabro. The news was initially reported by Joe Freeman of The Oregonian. Bell arrives in Portland having previously served as the broadcast voice for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the NBA G League's Valley Suns.
Bell also holds broadcast experience covering multiple sports for Arizona State University, California Baptist University, the Pac-12 Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference. Unnamed team sources noted that Bell distinguished himself among a large pool of candidates, highlighting his immediate broadcast chemistry with color commentator Lamar Hurd.
