With nearly $600 million in public funding on the table to improve the Moda Center, Portland Trail Blazers president Dewayne Hankins struck a conciliatory tone on Tuesday per Front Office Sports.
Portland Trail Blazers president Dewayne Hankins stated at media day that the organization remains fully committed to staying in Portland and renovating the Moda Center. His comments struck a conciliatory tone regarding ongoing discussions over nearly $600 million in public funding allocated to renovate the 31-year-old venue.
Local and state entities have approved $586 million for the project, though Oregon's $365 million contribution includes a December 2026 deadline. Tensions previously surfaced after new owner Tom Dundon, whose group was approved in March, suggested the team would not contribute funds toward the renovations.
