Raptors sign guard Jamal Shead to contract extension: Source

The Toronto Raptors have signed point guard Jamal Shead to a three-year, $24 million contract extension, according to a league source. The agreement prevents Shead from reaching free agency after this season, which marks the final year of his rookie contract. The news was first reported by ESPN before being confirmed to The Athletic.

Selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Shead has averaged 6.9 points and 4.8 assists across his first two seasons. Known for his tenacious point-of-attack defense, he played all 82 games last season and started four playoff games against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
