While he didn’t begin the season on the NHL roster, goaltender Dylan Garand has landed with the New York Rangers before their second game. He has been recalled to backup starter Igor Shesterkin.
The New York Rangers have recalled goaltender Dylan Garand from the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack to serve as the backup to starter Igor Shesterkin. Garand replaces veteran netminder Joonas Korpisalo, who was placed on injured reserve with a week-to-week lower-body injury, according to a report from Mollie Walker of the New York Post.
Garand recently cleared waivers ahead of final roster cuts, granting the Rangers flexibility to move him between the NHL and AHL throughout October. With New York facing a dense upcoming schedule, Garand could see game action following an impressive three-game NHL stint last season where he posted a 2-0-1 record.
