Alex Cora is ready to hit pause on baseball — all good reasons.

Former Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora has informed the Philadelphia Phillies that he plans to sit out the upcoming season despite being viewed as a favorite for their managerial position. Cora decided to pause his baseball career primarily for family reasons, as he is scheduled to marry his longtime partner, Angelica Feliciano, in November 2026.
Cora and Feliciano have been together since 2016, share twin sons, and both come from prominent Puerto Rican baseball families. Cora was dismissed by the Red Sox in April following a 10-17 start, ending his tenure with a 619-541 regular-season record.
