CLEVELAND — It’s been an up-and-down couple of months for Celtics guard Devin Carter. Carter, who drafted to the Sacramento Kings just two summers ago, was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in June in a salary dump. Then, last month…

Boston Celtics guard Devin Carter impressed in his preseason debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers, scoring 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. The Celtics outscored the Cavaliers by 22 points during Carter's 24 minutes on the court. Following a tumultuous stretch where he was traded and subsequently waived, Carter signed an Exhibit-10 training camp contract with Boston to fight for an open roster spot.
Carter is competing for Boston's remaining open two-way contract alongside teammates Dillon Mitchell and Amari Williams. Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla, assistant DJ MacLeay, and center Luka Garza praised Carter's competitiveness, defense, and aggressive downhill play. Carter is looking to follow a similar career trajectory as teammate Neemias Queta, who turned a two-way deal with Boston into a multi-year standard extension.
