Former Washington Wizards guard Nick Young revealed on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast that a team cheerleader was fired during his rookie season after fraternizing with him and teammate Andray Blatche. Young stated that he and Blatche became "too friendly" with the dancer at a team gathering before leaving early together, leading to an organizational confrontation at practice the following day.
Young explained that as a rookie drafted in 2007, he was unaware cheerleaders could be fired under league non-fraternization rules. Following her dismissal, franchise star Gilbert Arenas reportedly gave the fired cheerleader $10,000 in cash to compensate for the fallout from the incident.
