The Story in 60 Seconds

Matthew Renshaw stated he is prepared to bat in any position Australia needs after moving down to No. 5 for the first Test against South Africa in Durban. Renshaw helped lead Australia's fightback on day one, remaining unbeaten on 46 alongside captain Pat Cummins, who scored 33 not out. The pair guided the tourists from a precarious 6-124 to 6-187 before bad light ended play.

The 30-year-old previously opened against Bangladesh but was shifted to accommodate Nic Maddinson, who made a 33-ball duck at the top of the order. Renshaw noted that waiting to bat is the toughest adjustment, though he prepared by facing net deliveries during the lunch interval. Australia may adjust its lineup again in Gqeberha, with Cameron Green and Josh Inglis both nearing potential returns.
