The 30-year-old believes hard lessons along the way put him in a position to produce his magnificent Kingsmead century

Matt Renshaw reflected on how past career struggles shaped his magnificent 190 in the series opener against South Africa in Durban. Coming in at No. 5, the 30-year-old rescued Australia from 6-124 to reach a total of 390 on day two. It marked his first Test century in nearly a decade following his maiden hundred in 2017.
Renshaw combined with Pat Cummins, who scored 43, and shared a historic 134-run ninth-wicket partnership with Nathan Lyon, who added 27. His 397-ball marathon knock ended when he edged Simon Harmer, putting Australia in control and raising questions over future team selection.
