Marlins To Name Dillon Lawson Hitting Coach

The Miami Marlins are set to name Dillon Lawson as their new hitting coach, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Lawson previously served as the New York Yankees hitting coach and the Boston Red Sox assistant hitting coach. He initially joined the Marlins organization as a roving hitting coach during the summer following his dismissal from Boston in April.

Lawson replaces Pedro Guerrero, whom the Marlins moved on from after an offensively average campaign. Marlins president of baseball operations Peter Bendix cited the desire for a new voice aligned with the organization's hitting staff. The 41-year-old Lawson previously coached across multiple levels, including the Yankees, Astros, collegiate programs, and independent baseball.
