Ex-Burnley man the most unlikely hat-trick hero as European table-toppers secure thumping win

Former Burnley defender Hannes Delcroix scored a surprise hat-trick to lead Swiss Super League side FC Lugano to a 4-0 away victory against Lausanne-Sport on Sunday. The 27-year-old opened the scoring from an Antonios Papadopoulos header before adding two headers of his own against goalkeeper Melvin Mastil at the Stade de la Tuiliere.

Delcroix joined Lugano on a free transfer from Burnley in January after making only 15 appearances for the Clarets between 2023 and 2026. The Haiti international had scored just four career goals prior to Sunday's match and failed to score during his spells with Burnley and Swansea City.
