The summer saw Pompey’s biggest transfer outlay since the Premier League era, but that increased spending brings others challenges.

Portsmouth manager John Mousinho admitted the club faces heightened pressure and increased risk after completing their largest transfer outlay since the Premier League era. Pompey spent approximately ÂŁ11 million to bring in 12 new permanent signings ahead of their third Championship campaign, significantly surpassing outlays from prior windows.
Key permanent additions included Marko Milovanović from UD Almeria for an initial £3 million, Abu Kamara for £2.5 million, Tyrese Shade for £2.2 million, and Rocco Shein for £2.1 million. Mousinho noted that while having more money helps the club progress, the financial stakes require Portsmouth to ensure their recruitment remains precise.
