Sheffield United CEO spoke to The Star’s Danny Hall

Sheffield United chief executive Stephen Bettis confirmed the club is monitoring Manchester City's legal case and could explore a compensation claim if the ruling is upheld. Manchester City was recently found guilty of multiple financial charges involving disguised expenditure and inflated sponsorship revenue across nine seasons. Bettis noted that United, who faced City in recent Premier League campaigns and a 2023 FA Cup semi-final, will keep all options open.
Bettis highlighted that any potential legal challenge is still distant, as Manchester City retains the right to appeal the verdict. He added that other clubs may collectively examine legal avenues, especially given the strict financial compliance Sheffield United adhered to during their recent summer transfer window.
