Sheffield United's revised timescale for Dore training ground confirmed after significant financial cost so far detailed

Sheffield United chief executive Stephen Bettis has confirmed the club's new training complex in Dore is still "a couple of summers away" from completion. The project has faced setbacks following relegation from the Premier League, but designs are now nearly complete. The club plans to begin public consultations and submit a formal planning application before the end of the year.
The Blades have already spent well over £500,000 on professional fees alone for the site at the former HSBC Sports Ground. Construction is estimated to take between 12 and 15 months once planning permission and tenders are secured, ultimately allowing the club to repurpose Shirecliffe into a dedicated category-one academy.
