West Ham United Women secured a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Tottenham Hotspur following a 0-0 draw in their Subway Players Cup opener at BetWright Stadium. Manager Rita Guarino made six changes to her starting lineup, and the rotated squad held firm through a scoreless 90 minutes to claim an additional point from the shootout.
Tottenham came close to scoring late when Shekiera Martinez struck the post and Laia Codina blocked a shot from Matilda Nildén. In the shootout, Katie Zelem, Eva Nyström, Kelly Gago, and Codina all scored for West Ham, while Caitlin Dijkstra and Martinez missed their spot-kicks for Tottenham.
