Ernie Weaver’s Sheffield Wednesday outing detailed with loan clubs still circling

Sheffield Wednesday defender Ernie Weaver made his first League One start of the season during a 1-1 draw against Cambridge United. Partnered with left-back Max Lowe in a makeshift central defense, Weaver recorded 15 clearances, five aerial duel wins, and three blocks while marking forward Louis Appéré. Caretaker manager Matt Hamshaw praised the young defender's resilience after a nervous start before Weaver was substituted late with cramp.

Weaver remains on the radar of National League clubs after potential loan switches to Forest Green Rovers and Hornchurch FC previously fell through. Boston United are reportedly monitoring Weaver's availability, though his recent start came amid squad injuries to senior defenders Liam Cooper, Ricardo Santos, and Di'Shon Bernard.
