Insiders have their say as Enzo Maresca’s side wait to discover their fate
Manchester City could face multiple seasons in the Championship if their appeal against 114 financial misconduct charges fails, according to reports citing Premier League insiders. An independent commission recently found the club guilty of 114 out of 115 charges concerning inflated sponsorship deals and obstructing the investigation. City maintain their innocence and are appealing the decision.
According to the Daily Mail, insiders expect City could receive a fine and a points deduction severe enough to trigger relegation, alongside further penalties to keep them in the second tier. Full expulsion to League Two is considered unlikely by league shareholders, with a final appeal decision not expected before late January.
