Pundit Jamie Carragher wrote that he is glad Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is not joining Manchester United, explaining that the move would have strengthened his former club's fierce rivals. Emery had previously been linked with the Old Trafford managerial role, but he now looks set to remain with Villa and sign a contract extension.
Carragher addressed the situation in a column for the Telegraph following controversy surrounding earlier comments that prompted Aston Villa to threaten legal action. Carragher clarified that while Manchester United remains a bigger club with higher European expectations, Emery staying at Villa is positive for both the team and the Premier League.
