Fabian Hürzeler invited German MMA fighter Christian Eckerlin to teach Brighton players physical wrestling techniques for set-piece positioning.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler invited German mixed martial arts fighter Christian Eckerlin to the club's training base for a three-day session focused on defending set pieces. The two men connected through a mutual acquaintance from Munich, leading to the combat sports specialist providing unconventional coaching.
Eckerlin, who previously played soccer for SV Darmstadt between 2005 and 2009, reviewed video footage of Brighton's defensive positioning before working with the squad. He focused on grappling techniques, hip control, and physical engagement, teaching players in the weightlifting room before transitioning the drills onto the pitch.
