SFA ’saddened’ to learn of former starlet’s treatment

Former Celtic player Karamoko Dembele has revealed he was racially abused by a teammate during a Scotland youth national team camp. The 23-year-old winger, now playing for Queens Park Rangers, shared his experiences in an interview with The Athletic, stating that he was targeted and bullied by a fellow player. In response, the Scottish Football Association stated it was saddened by the revelations and reached out to Dembele to offer support.
Dembele also outlined his past difficulties transitioning into Celtic's first-team squad under manager Neil Lennon, alleging he was aggressively targeted in training tackles. Dembele made his senior debut for Celtic in 2019 before playing for Brest and Blackpool. He is currently sidelined from action with a knee injury sustained while playing for QPR.
