After his surprise call up, Baur wrote his name in the record books of his national side

Celtic midfielder Mika Baur earned his senior international debut for Germany in a 2-0 victory over Serbia, prompting manager Jurgen Klopp to challenge the playmaker to adapt physically to Scottish football. Baur entered the match in the 76th minute to help secure Klopp's first win as national team manager. The appearance made the 22-year-old the 1,000th player to represent the German men's national team.
Following the match, Klopp praised Baur as a wonderful footballer while labeling the Scottish Premiership the toughest league in the world. Baur, who joined Celtic from Paderborn during the summer, became the first Celtic player to feature for Germany since Andreas Hinkel in 2009. The midfielder called the historic debut surreal following the full-time whistle.
