Rangers reaping benefits of painful Derek McInnes title lesson with Celtic in his sights

Former Rangers striker Bobby Williamson believes manager Derek McInnes will benefit from last season's painful title loss with Hearts. McInnes led Hearts to the top of the Scottish Premiership last season, only to lose the title to Celtic on the final day of the campaign. Now managing Rangers, McInnes has guided his new team to within two points of league leaders Celtic.

Williamson attended Rangers' recent victory over Celtic at Parkhead, which was secured by a goal from Ryan Naderi. The win followed another derby victory in the Premier Sports Cup, helping to turn Rangers' season around after a slow start. Williamson noted that while the derby lacked overall quality and creativity, Rangers created the better chances to secure the vital win.
