The Bangladesh Cricket Board has set up an independent five-member committee to investigate sexual harassment complaints from women cricketers and strengthen institutional safeguards.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has established an independent complaints committee to investigate sexual harassment allegations from women cricketers. Approved on October 28, the panel is headed by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Rashna Imam and includes Barrister Nazia Kabir, Barrister Anita Gazi Rahman, and Zareen Mahmud Hosein, with Chandra Banerjee serving as secretary. The board excluded internal personnel to ensure neutrality following recommendations from an earlier inquiry led by Rubaba Dowla into allegations raised by former captain Jahanara Alam.
The committee aims to provide confidential reporting channels and clear legal safeguards to protect players from retaliation. The BCB introduced website reporting mechanisms and began awareness workshops, including an educational session with approximately 100 women cricketers in Cox's Bazar.
