McLaren team principal Andrea Stella stated that a collision between teammates Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri during the Singapore Grand Prix sprint was "simply not acceptable." On the final lap of the wet 20-lap race, Norris attempted an overtake at Turn 5 and struck the right-rear corner of Piastri's car. The contact spun both drivers, causing Piastri's retirement and dropping Norris to eighth place.
FIA stewards investigated the collision and chose not to take further action, ruling that both drivers shared responsibility. Stella confirmed the matter would be addressed privately, emphasizing that team interests precede personal ego. Piastri revealed that Norris apologized for the incident, while McLaren scrambled to replace Piastri's damaged gearbox ahead of the Grand Prix.
