Lando Norris receives ’emotional’ verdict after stunning McLaren execution

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella praised Lando Norris for developing "emotional racing resilience" following an exceptional qualifying performance at the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. After missing FP2 due to a gearbox issue and sitting sixth after his first Q3 run, Norris secured pole position by edging Kimi Antonelli by 0.011 seconds.

Stella described Norris's effort as one of the most impressive qualifying laps he has seen across 450 grands prix. Although an untimely virtual safety car later cost Norris a potential race victory, Stella highlighted the driver's remarkable precision throughout each phase of the lap.
