Lewis Hamilton feels F1 has moved away from a proper deterrent for track limits over his time in grand prix racing.

Lewis Hamilton has expressed his dislike for modern Formula 1 circuits replacing traditional grass and gravel traps with expansive tarmac run-off areas. Speaking ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Hamilton criticized the trend as overly cautious, stating that he preferred earlier eras when track limits carried higher risks for driver errors.
While reflecting on the physical challenges across his career, Hamilton highlighted 2007 and 2020 as particularly demanding periods. However, he noted that modern tracks have shifted toward risk-averse designs featuring fewer punitive boundaries, contrasting with older circuits that immediately punished mistakes with grass and gravel.
