McLaren boss Andrea Stella has explained why the reigning constructors' champion is reassured by the "ping-pong" F1 season, with Red Bull an ever more menacing threat.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella remains calm despite Red Bull narrowing the gap in the constructors' championship fight following the Singapore Grand Prix. Max Verstappen secured victory at Marina Bay, finishing roughly three-tenths of a second per lap quicker than McLaren. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished fourth and fifth respectively, leaving McLaren holding onto third place with 339 points, just seven ahead of Red Bull's 332.
Stella described the fluctuating competitive order as a seasonal "ping-pong" effect driven by development packages. He noted that McLaren never held a dominant advantage earlier in the campaign and expressed confidence that a three-tenths deficit is manageable, asserting that such a performance gap can realistically be recovered through a single car upgrade.
