Red Sox lefty Garrett Crochet assessed his long-awaited return to the mound Thursday how he usually does after pitching: in colorful terms.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet reflected candidly on failing to record an out during Boston's 9-2 season-ending loss to the New York Yankees in the Wild Card Series. Making his first mound appearance since April 25 following shoulder inflammation, Crochet entered in the sixth inning trailing 2-1 and was charged with four earned runs without recording an out as New York swept the series.
Crochet noted that while he felt healthy and executed pitches as intended, defensive miscues and timely hitting undermined his outing. Manager Chad Tracy praised his velocity, which reached an average of 97.8 mph, but Crochet expressed disappointment at failing to advance Boston into the ALDS.
