Venable named Sporting News AL Manager of the Year

Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable has been named the Sporting News American League Manager of the Year following a vote by his peers. In his second season leading the club, the 43-year-old guided Chicago to an 84-78 regular season record and their first postseason berth since 2021. The White Sox swept Houston in the Wild Card Series before falling to Cleveland in the AL Division Series.

Venable engineered a historic turnaround, making Chicago the first MLB team to make the playoffs after consecutive 100-loss seasons. The White Sox doubled their 41-win total from 2024, improving by at least 19 wins in back-to-back seasons. Venable joins Miller Huggins and John McGraw as the only MLB managers since 1901 to achieve 19-plus win improvements in consecutive campaigns.
