Chicago White Sox manager Will Venable has been named the Sporting News American League Manager of the Year in a vote conducted by his fellow managers. Venable guided the White Sox to an 84-78 record and their first postseason appearance since 2021, marking a remarkable turnaround for a club that lost a modern-record 121 games in 2024.
Venable becomes the sixth manager in franchise history to earn the honor and the first since Ozzie Guillén in 2005. The peer-voted Sporting News award is separate from the official BBWAA Manager of the Year honor, which is scheduled to be announced on November 10.
