White Sox’s Colson Montgomery Speaks On Unflattering Strikeout Record

Chicago White Sox player Colson Montgomery set a new MLB single-season strikeout record by striking out 227 times this season. The previous record of 223 strikeouts was set by Mark Reynolds in 2009. Montgomery commented on the milestone following the regular-season finale on Sunday, noting that despite the record, he sees many positives from both his personal performance and the team's season as the White Sox head to the postseason.

During his sophomore campaign, Montgomery contributed significantly to the offense by hitting 31 home runs and 24 doubles. While his batting average and on-base percentage remained well below league average, his power hitting, alongside teammates Munetaka Murakami and Miguel Vargas, helped propel the team into playoff contention alongside his contributions on defense.
