The Chicago White Sox took a 2-0 lead in the American League Division Series with a 4-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday afternoon. Braden Montgomery hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth inning, followed by an RBI single from Chase Meidroth to put Chicago ahead. Chicago can secure a spot in the ALCS with a win at home on Wednesday.
Reliever Sean Burke earned the win after pitching 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball, while Grant Taylor recorded a four-out save. Guardians starter Gavin Williams struck out 11 batters across five-plus innings. Cleveland initially held an early 2-0 lead before Chicago rallied, surviving Jo Adell's RBI triple in the eighth.
