The Los Angeles Angels are making a change. The team announced that Kurt Suzuki will not be returning as manager.
The Los Angeles Angels announced they have declined manager Kurt Suzuki's 2027 contract option following a franchise-worst 62-100 season in 2026. The dismissal extends the club's postseason drought to 12 consecutive seasons. Under new owner Stan Kroenke and Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, the organization decided to initiate a full rebuild and begin searching for a new manager and coaching staff.
Vanessa Serrao notes that former Angels star Albert Pujols and former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina are strong candidates to replace Suzuki. Pujols currently serves as a special assistant in the Angels front office, while Molina brings extensive MLB credentials, including two World Series titles and nine Gold Glove Awards.
