The Story in 60 Seconds

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has been named a finalist for the 2026 National League Most Valuable Player award. He is competing for the honor alongside Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang. This marks Ohtani's sixth consecutive season as a league MVP finalist and his third straight nod with the Dodgers.

Ohtani delivered another strong two-way campaign despite injuries limiting his mound appearances after July 3. He hit 30 home runs with an .889 OPS while posting an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA across 14 starts. A win would make Ohtani only the second player in Major League Baseball history to capture five career MVP awards.
