The Story in 60 Seconds

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has been named a top-three finalist for the National League MVP award for the sixth consecutive season. Ohtani is joined by Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang as the top finalists, with the winner set to be announced on Thursday, November 12. Ohtani was the only Dodgers player announced among the top three for the five BBWAA awards.

Despite battling late-season knee inflammation and a biceps strain, Ohtani produced 30 home runs alongside a 1.79 ERA across 14 starts on the mound. He generated 6.6 fWAR, tying him for second in the National League. Meanwhile, Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto missed out on a top-three Cy Young finish, placing behind Jacob Misiorowski, Chris Sale, and Cristopher Sánchez.
