The San Francisco Giants are trading a 30-year-old to the Washington Nationals in exchange for a right-handed pitcher.

The San Francisco Giants are trading left-handed relief pitcher Reiver Sanmartín to the Washington Nationals in exchange for right-handed pitching prospect Robert Cranz. The permanent trade comes after the Giants designated Sanmartín for assignment earlier in the week.
Sanmartín recorded a 4.22 ERA across 21 1/3 innings for San Francisco last season after spending four prior seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. In return, the Giants acquire the 23-year-old Cranz, a 2024 seventh-round draft pick who posted a 5.17 ERA over 54 minor-league innings in 2026.
