Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Shane McClanahan has been ruled out for the remainder of the postseason, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The 29-year-old pitcher has been sidelined since September 4 with left forearm tightness and did not have enough time to build up to game readiness ahead of the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians.
Rays manager Kevin Cash stated that McClanahan will enter the offseason healthy and is expected to be ready for Spring Training. During the regular season, McClanahan compiled a 3.36 ERA across 24 starts covering 118 innings. With McClanahan unavailable, Tampa Bay will rely on starting pitchers Drew Rasmussen, Freddy Peralta, and Nick Martinez.
