For several fights the UFC broadcasting crew had mused about Johnny Walker’s potential as a heavyweight. He had done so on the regional scene before coming to the UFC, but had stuck at light heavyweight since signing back in 2018.…

Johnny Walker has explained his decision to move up to the heavyweight division ahead of his upcoming bout against Mick Parkin at UFC 332. After 16 fights at light heavyweight, the Brazilian fighter stated that the timing is right due to increased maturity and top-level training alongside Alexander Volkov at Rey Sefo's Porrada Training Center in Las Vegas.
Walker noted that cutting weight to reach the 205-pound limit drained his energy, reduced his training capacity, and slowed his recovery. Now competing at a natural weight of around 245 pounds, he expects improved stamina and durability without severe dehydration.
