In the upcoming ESPN documentary Being Ben, Ben Simmons reflected on his fallout with former Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers. Simmons criticized Rivers for his comments following the team's 2021 Game 7 playoff defeat to the Atlanta Hawks, calling him a piece of shit. Following that elimination, Rivers had publicly questioned whether Simmons could be a championship-level point guard, leading Simmons to feel thrown under the bus.
The documentary, scheduled to debut on ESPN, covers Simmons' departure from Philadelphia, his trade request, and his persistent shooting struggles throughout his NBA career. After dealing with back injuries and time away from the league, Simmons recently signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Sacramento Kings in September 2026.
