When at full strength and playing with this speed and precision, the Rockets can strike fear in any Western Conference team.

The Houston Rockets debuted a new, fast-paced offensive identity in a dominant 128-110 regular-season opening victory over the Dallas Mavericks at Toyota Center. Kevin Durant and Jabari Smith Jr. led the scoring with 30 points each, as Houston built a lead as large as 37 points in the third quarter. Point guard Fred VanVleet orchestrated the high-tempo attack, tallying 11 assists and zero turnovers in his first regular-season contest in over 18 months.
Houston racked up 29 fast-break points and shot 16-of-36 from 3-point range, presenting a sharp contrast to last season's league-low offensive pace. Head coach Ime Udoka emphasized forcing turnovers and running in transition, which created cleaner scoring chances for Durant. Offseason acquisition Marcus Smart added 10 points off the bench, while Steven Adams sat out with calf tightness and Tari Eason was ejected in the first quarter.
