The Oklahoma City Thunder spent much of the offseason making difficult financial decisions. Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins were all moved in separate trades, with the franchise taking back future draft capital instead of players.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Cason Wallace is reportedly drawing strong outside interest, with Brett Siegel reporting that multiple rival teams would offer over $30 million annually if he hits restricted free agency. Wallace and the Thunder have until October 19 to finalize a rookie-scale extension. While Wallace's camp is targeting between $30 million and $33 million per season, Oklahoma City reportedly prefers a deal in the mid-$20 millions.
The Thunder face serious payroll constraints with massive contract commitments already dedicated to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren. Wallace is poised for an elevated starting role following the departure of Lu Dort, after leading the NBA with 150 steals and earning All-Defensive Second Team honors last season.
