Suns’ Dillon Brooks charged with DUI stemming from March arrest

Phoenix Suns veteran Dillon Brooks has been charged with driving under the influence following an arrest in March, according to Scottsdale City court records. Brooks faces a Class 1 misdemeanor charge with an initial court date scheduled for October 28. Officers initially stopped Brooks around 1 a.m. on March 6 for alleged traffic violations and arrested him on suspicion of DUI after detecting the smell of marijuana, despite him passing a breathalyzer test.

The 30-year-old was recovering from a hand injury at the time of the incident and later apologized to his team. Brooks is also facing separate misdemeanor reckless driving and speeding charges from a January incident, with a court date set for November 9. The Suns confirmed they addressed the March matter with Brooks, who agreed to a three-year, $73 million extension in August.
