The Story in 60 Seconds

The Vancouver Canucks' struggles on the penalty kill continued Saturday during a 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils in Newark. Vancouver allowed three power-play goals on three chances, dropping their season penalty-killing success rate to 50 percent after conceding 11 power-play goals across six games. Head coach Manny Malhotra noted that surrendering goals at such a rate is not sustainable.

Linus Karlsson opened the scoring for Vancouver with a power-play goal, but New Jersey responded with three man-advantage tallies, including two from Nico Hischier and one from Jesper Bratt. The performance marked the first time since 2008 that Vancouver surrendered three power-play goals in consecutive games.
