Melanson sustained the unusual injury in Seattle’s 6-1 win over Calgary on Oct. 1.

Seattle Kraken forward Jacob Melanson is sidelined indefinitely after sustaining a vascular pseudoaneurysm during the team's season opener against the Calgary Flames on October 1. The team announced the diagnosis as an anterior mediastinum hematoma with a vascular pseudoaneurysm after Melanson left the contest midway through the third period.
The 23-year-old forward will be evaluated and monitored by medical personnel in Seattle as he works toward a gradual return to hockey. Melanson, drafted by Seattle in 2021, has recorded five points in 38 career NHL games across parts of three seasons.
